Chelsea recently parted ways with manager Graham Potter and they are currently looking to bring in a quality replacement.

A report from the Sun claims that Chelsea have identified the former Barcelona manager, Luis Enrique as a potential replacement for the former Brighton manager.

Enrique is currently without a job after being relieved of his duties at the Spanish national team.

Spain decided to dismiss the former Barcelona manager after a disappointing World Cup campaign. However, Enrique managed to impress for the national team prior to that. He helped Spain reach the semifinals of the Euro 2020 and the finals of the 2021 UEFA nations league. Enrique has proven himself at the club level with Barcelona as well. He helped the Spanish giants win the treble during his time at the club.

Apparently, the Spanish manager is admired by the Chelsea hierarchy and it will be interesting to see if the Premier League giants can get the deal across the line in the coming weeks.

Chelsea have been linked with the former Bayern Munich manager Julian Nagelsmann as well. The 35-year-old was recently sacked and replaced by Thomas Tuchel at the Allianz Arena.

Nagelsmann has done an impressive job in Germany and he could prove to be an exciting addition to Chelsea as well. But the Blues will need the permission of Bayern Munich in order to appoint the manager this season.

The German club are due to receive compensation if the 35-year-old takes over at Chelsea before the end of the season.

The situation surrounding the appointment of Nagelsmann is clearly more complicated compared to Enrique, and it seems that the Spaniard is now the front-runner to replace Potter at Stamford Bridge.

Luis Enrique did well to manage an extremely talented squad filled with stars at Barcelona and he could be the ideal manager for Chelsea’s expensively assembled squad.

The Blues have spent a lot of money under their new owners and they will be hoping to challenge for major trophies now. Chelsea have had a disappointing campaign so far and they are currently 11th in the league table.

A club of their stature should be challenging for the major trophies and Enrique certainly has a proven pedigree of competing at the highest level.
