Tottenham Hotspur are among the clubs in contention to sign Inter Milan’s wantaway midfielder Arturo Vidal, with Antonio Conte keen on a reunion.

A report from Chilean news outlet La Tercera has offered an update on the future of Arturo Vidal. The midfielder is keen on leaving Inter Milan, with his current contract expiring at the end of the season. Inter do have the option to extend his contract for one more year, but that appears unlikely, with the player not rated highly by new coach Simone Inzaghi.

Vidal’s uncertain future at Inter has put Tottenham Hotspur on red alert, with coach Antonio Conte closely following his situation. He is keen on a potential reunion with the former Barcelona man, who has worked with the Italian tactician at Juventus and Inter Milan. Aside from Spurs, Vidal is also courted by other European clubs such as Galatasaray and Marseille.

A native of San Joaquin, Vidal has been a part of the Inter Milan side since 2020. He was brought in by Conte to further reinforce his options in the middle of the park. In his maiden season at the club, the Chilean helped Inter win the Scudetto, racking up 23 appearances even though he was far from a first-team regular.

Following the departure of Conte in the summer, the 34-year-old’s first-team prospects at Inter have dwindled further. Under new coach Inzaghi, the midfielder has made only one start in the league, falling behind the likes of Marcelo Brozovic, Nicolo Barella, Hakan Calhanoglu and even Roberto Gagliardini in the pecking order.

The lack of first-team action has frustrated Vidal, who is prepared to leave Inter at the end of the season. The Chilean’s situation has alerted Tottenham, with the Londoners keen on reinforcing their midfield unit in the summer.

The Lilywhites notably signed Juventus starlet Rodrigo Bentancur in the January transfer window. But it appears Conte wants more quality and experience in the middle of the park. That is where Arturo Vidal comes in, having plied his trade at clubs like Bayern Munich, Juventus, Barcelona and Inter Milan.

Arturo Vidal will not be the only Inter player on Tottenham’s radar next season either, with the north London giants reportedly keen on defensive sensation Alessandro Bastoni. Conte is keen on a reunion with midfielder Brozovic as well, though the Croat is likely to remain at San Siro beyond the summer transfer window.
