Transfer News: Gabriel Pirani on Real Madrid radar

Real Madrid are reportedly tracking the progress of Santos FC’s 19-year-old Brazilian attacking sensation Gabriel Pirani.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Defensa Central, Gabriel Pirani is the subject of interest from Real Madrid over a possible move in a future transfer window. The Spanish giants are closely monitoring the progress of the 19-year-old Brazilian attacking sensation, currently plying his trade for Santos FC.

Gabriel Pirani has been with Santos FC since joining their famed youth setup in 2013, aged ten. And after making swift progress through the ranks at the Brazilian club, the teenage prodigy broke into the first-team squad at the Urbano Caldeira Stadium in February 2020.

In the last two years, the 19-year-old has improved by leaps and bounds, even though a tally of five goals and four assists in 61 first-team appearances might not seem too impressive. The youngster’s exploits have not gone unnoticed, with some of the biggest clubs in Europe, including Real Madrid, setting their sights on him.

The Spanish giants have a habit of exploiting the Brazilian market for the most prodigious young talents, bringing many promising players into the club over the years. The forays in the country have accelerated further under the tutelage of chief scout Juni Calafat.

In recent years, this outlook has fetched Real Madrid Rodrygo Goes, Vinicius Jr. and Reinier Jesus, with Vinicius and Rodrygo already establishing themselves as first-team stars for Los Blancos. Of late, the Merengues have been linked with plenty of Brazilian whizkids, including Matheus Nascimento, with Pirani also a viable target.

In addition to the 19-year-old, another Santos prodigy in Weslley Patati has emerged on Real Madrid’s radar as well. According to the report, Pirani has a release clause worth €100 million in his contract with Santos FC, meaning signing him could cost a bomb.

For now, the La Liga heavyweights are merely keeping a close watch on his progress at the Urbano Caldeira Stadium. It remains to be seen if Real Madrid will firm up their interest in Pirani in the months to come, as he continues to go from strength to strength for his parent club.
