Real Madrid have reportedly turned down a €25 million bid for struggling forward Eden Hazard by London giants West Ham United.

According to a report by Catalan outlet El Nacional, West Ham United have had a bid worth €25 million for Eden Hazard rejected by Real Madrid. The Spanish giants are demanding €50 million to offload the struggling Belgian attacker in the January transfer window.

Eden Hazard joined Real Madrid from Chelsea in July 2019, completing a lifelong dream of playing for Los Blancos. However, the 30-year-old has endured a nightmare at the Santiago Bernabeu, with a spate of injuries blighting him and restricting his game-time considerably.

Things have gone from bad to worse for the Belgian international this season, as he has started only five of the 16 games played by Real Madrid thus far, managing just one assist in the process. Hazard’s struggles have prompted Real Madrid to consider his long-term future, with several clubs, including West Ham United, linked with him.

The interest from the London giants is understandable, considering the lack of investment in their attacking unit in recent windows. And while Pablo Fornals has been impressive this season, a fully fit Hazard has the ability to be an upgrade over every West Ham player and could be a real game-changer from the left flank.

However, West Ham will need to improve their offer for Hazard, having had a €25 million bid rejected by Real Madrid. The Spanish giants wish to recoup €50 million for the struggling attacker and have instructed the Hammers to improve their offer.

Such a situation could bring Newcastle United into contention, with the Magpies also keen on signing the 30-year-old from Real Madrid. However, Hazard’s preference is to join West Ham as the move will enable him to return to London, where he played the best football of his career, albeit at Chelsea, before joining Real Madrid.

So, the ball is in West Ham’s court, and it remains to be seen if they are willing to improve on their rejected €25 million bid to secure the services of the Real Madrid attacker. An intriguing next few weeks beckon Hazard, with his career at Real Madrid seemingly winding down soon.
