Liverpool are reportedly interested in former Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey as Jurgen Klopp eyes an experienced figure to improve his midfield options.

According to Fichajes, Liverpool could make a move for Aaron Ramsey next summer with the Welsh midfielder’s career in Turin increasingly seeming to be over. Jurgen Klopp wants to bring in an experienced player to bolster his midfield options for next season.

Aaron Ramsey’s move to Italy was initially considered a masterstroke, as Juventus managed to take a player worth at least around £50 million at that time on a free transfer following the expiration of his Arsenal contract. With the money saved on fees, the Bianconeri agreed to a huge contract with the Welshman, making him one of the highest-paid stars at the club and in the league.

The decision has proven to be poor as Ramsey has failed to make any real impact during his time at the club thus far, owing to niggling injury troubles. This season, since the arrival of Manuel Locatelli, the former Arsenal midfielder has completely lost his place, making just a single league start in addition to a couple of appearances off the bench.

Likely to play a key part for Wales when they enter the 2022 FIFA World Cup playoffs in March, Ramsey is convinced a move away would be a good option to bolster his playing time at club level. Moreover, Juventus are willing to let him leave to save on his wages.

There is no shortage of interest from the Premier League as clubs remain keen on his experience and quality. Ramsey made his name in England with Arsenal spending most of his senior career under Arsene Wenger.

Newcastle United are very much interested in him, as the Magpies look for experienced stars to help them in a tough relegation battle. Eddie Howe’s cash-rich outfit are prepared to match Ramsey’s wage demands, which could be an enticing prospect; however, it remains to be seen if he wants to play at a relegation-battling side.

Liverpool are the latest team linked with a move. The Merseysiders may not agree to match his wage demands, but the lure of challenging for trophies should be interesting enough for any player. Jurgen Klopp does not want to sign Ramsey in January but could sanction a move in the summer window.

Liverpool are yet to properly replace the departed Georginio Wijnaldum, as Klopp wants an experienced head with Premier League pedigree in the midfield department. The Reds have no shortage of options in midfield but lack the proper nous of a player similar to Ramsey.

It could be an interesting signing which would retain the quality of the squad heading into next season. Ramsey may not be a guaranteed starter at Anfield but the ex-Arsenal ace certainly will benefit from Klopp’s constant rotation.

As for a career path in the short term, the Welshman could join a club like Newcastle on loan to get regular playing time and maybe think of a permanent move in the summer, possibly to Liverpool.
