Transfer News: Manchester United keen on signing Federico Valverde

Manchester United are reportedly keen on signing Federico Valverde and are willing to pay €70 million for the Real Madrid midfielder.

According to a report by Catalan outlet El Nacional, Federico Valverde is the subject of interest from Manchester United over a move in next summer’s transfer window. The Red Devils are ready to offer €70 million to sign the Uruguayan midfielder from Real Madrid.

Federico Valverde has come a long way since joining Real Madrid from Penarol in July 2016. Widely tipped to be one of the long-term solutions in the middle of the park for Los Blancos, the 23-year-old has been patiently biding his time in the last few years.

However, according to the report, Valverde is not entirely content with his current role in the Real Madrid first-team setup, even though he has started ten of the 12 games he has been available for selection. Nevertheless, his situation has piqued the interest of Manchester United.

The Red Devils hold a long-standing interest in Valverde, having made previous attempts to sign him. However, if claims by El Nacional are anything to go by, next summer might be their best opportunity to swoop the Uruguayan international away from Real Madrid.

The interest in the 23-year-old makes sense, considering Paul Pogba appears to be running down his contract, with Real Madrid among his suitors. With Donny van de Beek also likely to depart Old Trafford amid his frustrations with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Manchester United will need to enter the transfer market for a midfielder, making Valverde a viable target.

The Premier League heavyweights have recently faced a setback in pursuit of one Real Madrid star in Vinicius Junior. However, when it comes to Valverde, there is a sense of optimism, with Manchester United prepared to offer €70 million to secure his services.

The report does not mention Real Madrid’s stance on selling Valverde, and it will be interesting to see if Los Blancos are ready to cash in on him if a €70 million bid is tabled. For now, it looks like Valverde could be a popular figure in the transfer market due to his frustrations at Real Madrid, with Manchester United ready to launch a move for him.
