Newcastle United could be prepared to spend big on wages, particularly on players such as Aaron Ramsey.

According to Sport Witness via Tuttosport, Newcastle United owners are not ‘scared’ of spending big on wages on stars such as Aaron Ramsey. The Magpies are linked with the Juventus midfielder, who is open to leaving the Serie A giants.

Ever since the Saudi Arabia-backed Public Investment Fund took over Newcastle United, many players across Europe and England have seen their names flashed alongside the Magpies. Aaron Ramsey’s has struck a chord with new links and stories emerging every other day.

A move will depend on Ramsey himself, as he may not fancy joining a club like Newcastle. The 30-year-old Welsh midfielder spent most of his career in England with Arsenal and would like to continue playing at the top level. The Magpies may not be a successful club now, but they could soon become one with the help of their wealthy owners.

As things stand, Ramsey earns a staggering €14 million per year at Juventus. Those wages have become the biggest obstacle for the Serie A side in their bid to sell the midfielder. The Bianconeri might be prepared to demand a lower fee from suitors, as they hope to save on his massive salary.

The Italians want to divert the money towards signing younger players such as Dusan Vlahovic, who continues to attract massive interest from Premier League clubs too. However, with Ramsey tied to the club until 2023, they have found it difficult to move him on. Things might change with Newcastle’s interest, with the Magpies reportedly ready to sign the wantaway star.

The report suggests Newcastle are not ‘scared’ to pay Ramsey’s exorbitant gross salary of €14 million. They reportedly like the player very much and want him to improve the squad in the short term. Whether the Welshman fancies the opportunity to prolong his career if the finances continue to be attractive remains to be seen.

Ramsey has played just five games across all competitions, with manager Maximiliano Allegri preferring Rodrigo Bentancur and new arrival Manuel Locatelli over him. The 30-year-old midfielder wants to change his playing situation and could be keen to depart the Allianz Stadium.

In one way, a transfer might be in Juventus’ hands as well. If the Bianconeri start demanding a sizable fee, no club, including Newcastle, might agree to pay up. Instead, if they are to forgo it altogether or make only smaller demands, they would then have a chance to offload Ramsey as soon as January.
