Real Madrid are reportedly interested in signing David de Gea, who could be on his way out of Manchester United this summer.

According to a report by Daily Mail, David de Gea is seemingly a step closer to sealing a move away from Manchester United in the summer transfer window. The Spanish international’s entourage is offering him to top clubs across Europe, with Real Madrid among those who are showing an interest in him.

David de Gea has enjoyed a productive spell at Manchester United since arriving from Atletico Madrid in the summer of 2011. Now into his tenth season with the Red Devils, the Spaniard has been one of the few bright spots in a dire post-Sir Alex Ferguson era at Old Trafford. Till date, de Gea has amassed 434 appearances for the Red Devils, keeping 153 clean in those outings.

However, in the last couple of seasons, he has suffered a staggering fall from grace. With mistakes starting to creep into his game, de Gea has been losing his credibility as a reliable goalkeeper and also seems to have lost his place as the Manchester United no. 1. This has put his future at Old Trafford under a cloud of uncertainty, with Real Madrid now interested in signing him.

The interest from Real Madrid, though, comes as a big surprise, considering Thibaut Courtois has been going strong at the club since arriving from Chelsea in the summer of 2018. With the Belgian superstar still very much at the peak of his powers, it is hard to see how de Gea would fit into the scheme of things, especially as he vies for the first-choice goalkeeping berth.

Instead, other potential suitors like PSG and former club Atletico Madrid would be a better fit for the 30-year-old. Indeed, former Real Madrid goalkeeper Keylor Navas, the PSG no. 1, is nearing the final phase of his career, while at Atletico Madrid, Jan Oblak has been linked with a move to Manchester United, possibly as a replacement for de Gea himself.

Nevertheless, it looks like Real Madrid could be interested in signing de Gea as his representatives offer him to top clubs across Europe. Meanwhile, as per widespread reports, Manchester United have slapped a £50 million price tag on the Spaniard and it will be interesting to see if Real Madrid or other interested parties are willing to shell out such a sum. For now, it looks like de Gea is set to call time on his stint with Manchester United.
