Leeds United are on the verge of securing a deal for Liverpool attacker Ryan Kent, who could cost around £7 million-plus around £3 million in add-ons.

According to Goal, Leeds United are in talks with Liverpool over the potential transfer of Ryan Kent. The attacker has been courted by a host of clubs across England, but it is Leeds, who might be on the verge of securing his services this summer.

The report claims that the talks between the two clubs are progressing well and if everything goes according to the plan, the Championship outfit will have to pay £7 million upfront for Kent. The fee could escalate to as much as £10 million with add-ons.

This will be a smart piece of investment for Leeds, who are keen to reinforce their wide-attacking department. The Whites sold star player Jack Clarke to Tottenham Hotspur earlier this summer. And although the 18-year-old has returned to Elland Road on a season-long loan deal, the club desperately needs someone who can serve for the long-term.

Kent, in that regard, is an ideal choice. The Liverpool prodigy, following his disastrous spell at SC Freiburg in 2017, has somewhat managed to turn his career around. He enjoyed a productive loan spell at Rangers last season, scoring six goals and providing six assists in 23 Premiership outings.

The 22-year-old’s services from the flanks were critical as the Teddy Bears finished second in the league, behind champions Celtic. In fact, Rangers’ boss and Liverpool legend, Steven Gerrard was keen on bringing him back to Globe Park this summer.

Kent returned to Anfield this summer following the end of his loan spell in Scotland. But, the winger has since been linked with a move elsewhere as it’s unlikely he will have a future at Liverpool anytime soon.

The Reds, still fresh from winning the Champions League last season, arguably boost the strongest attacking units in Europe. But aside from the revered attacking trifecta of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino, they also have the likes of Xherdan Shaqiri, Divock Origi and Adam Lallana.

Additionally, the Merseyside giants were also boosted by the return of Alex-Oxlade Chamberlain. The ex-Arsenal star missed the entirety of last season due to an ACL injury. But, his return to full fitness will definitely affect Kent’s chances of making it to the first-team.

A move to Leeds United, therefore, makes a world of sense for the Liverpool academy product. The Whites made an impressive run for promotion last season, and the addition of Kent will only strengthen the overall quality of the team as they aim to gain back their top-flight status next campaign.
