La Masia star Ansu Fati has reportedly penned a new deal at Barcelona, snubbing the rumoured offer from Manchester United in the process.
According to Spanish publication Sport, Manchester United have suffered a blow in their pursuit of Ansu Fati. The youngster has opted to stay with Barcelona, despite the lucrative offer on table from Manchester United, and has reportedly penned a new deal at the club.
The report further shines light on the new deal signed by Ansu Fati. The youngster has penned a three-year deal, with Barcelona inserting a €100 million release clause in his contract. The report states that the renewals of Ansu Fati and Ilaix Moriba were considered to be priorities by the club officials.
Ansu Fati will be a key member of the Juvenil A side that will be coached by former Barcelona goalkeeper Victor Valdes. The youngster is currently a part of the pre-season tour with Barcelona B and is turning heads with his performance. The report states that there is a strong chance Fati could step in for the B squad as well during the season.

Fati joined Barcelona in 2012 at the age of 10 from Sevilla and has since gradually paced his way through the age groups. The 16-year-old boasted of 4 goals and 3 assists in the UEFA Youth League for Barcelona in the 2018-19 campaign and did finish as top scorer of the Juvenil A team last season with 15 goals.
Predominantly a left winger, Fati can also be deployed as a centre-forward to good effect. Manchester United would be gutted at losing out on Fati, especially with most of their generational stars making the jump up to the Under-23 squad this summer, creating a hole in the Under-18 squad.
United are currently left with just Charlie McCann for the left wing in their Under-18 squad. To add to it, Manchester United saw wonderkid Mipo Odubeko snub the chance of signing a new deal at the club and instead test the waters of free agency.
It will be interesting to see how Ansu Fati develops at Barcelona. But, the club would be delighted at having retained both Fati and Ilaix, despite interest from English clubs.
