Manchester United are reportedly preparing to sign Paulo Dybala, and are plotting a big money swoop worth £155 million for the Juventus forward.

According to a report by The Mirror, Manchester United are targeting a £155 million deal for Juventus forward Paulo Dybala. The Italian giants have given Dybala the green light to chart the course of his future – and while Barcelona were believed to be a prime suitors – United are also in the fray now.

Often touted as the ‘next Messi’, Paulo Dybala joined Juventus in the summer of 2015 after spending three impressive seasons with Palermo. Those three years saw him become one of the hottest properties in Europe as some of the biggest clubs began vying for his signature before the Old Lady snapped him up.

Since then, Dybala has only proven to be a revelation for Juventus, having needed no time to establish himself as a key figure for the Serie A giants. His record for the Bianconeri is quite remarkable so far. So far, he has bagged 54 goals and 18 assists in 102 appearances while playing an instrumental role in back-to-back Serie A triumphs for Juventus.

His nimble feet and deft touch have also seen him draw comparisons with Lionel Messi. While the prospect of playing with his idol at Barcelona may seem enticing, the player will now have a tough choice to make, what with interest stemming from Manchester United.

During the summer transfer window, Jose Mourinho was desperate to sign a creative, lethal striker at the top end of the pitch. Romelu Lukaku joined the club as an answer to his prayers, and has gone only from strength-to-strength in the new season so far.

However, the road only gets tough for United from here on, with bigger commitments and bigger clubs to tackle. Thus, signing a proven goal-scorer like Dybala may not seem like a bad option.  The Argentine is pretty much a finished product that could elevate the Red Devils’ front line to a great extent.

Mourinho does not currently lack options up front. The likes of Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford and Lukaku have all proven to be quite dependable. The Portuguese boss will also have the services of Zlatan Ibrahimovic when the prolific Swede completes his recovery from knee injury.

Thus, as tougher challenges await them, United can consider signing Dybala. Against big teams in the Champions League, Dybala has proven to be a strong force time and again, and that is exactly what United need if they are to be serious contenders for the Champions League and Premier League season after season.
