Manchester United are reportedly plotting a move to add another Benfica player Anderson Talisca to their ranks.

According to a report by The Mirror, Manchester United are on the look-out to raid Benfica for the second time this summer in order to sign £15 million-rated midfielder Anderson Talisca.

Talisca has scored 20 goals in 76 appearances for Benfica since he moved to Portugal from Brazilian side Bahia.

However, the 23-year-old midfielder was loaned out to Besiktas last season but now it seems like his fiery performances have placed him on United’s radar.

He is rather versatile since he can also be deployed as a striker. He scored 17 times and recorded six assists in 33 appearances for Besiktas last season, helping them clinch the Turkish title.

Talisca has a buyout clause which United are ready to trigger, but they are also currently working on recruiting high-profile players such as Alvaro Morata from Real Madrid. However, the Benfica midfielder will prove to be a lot less expensive when compared to Morata and since he is young, Jose Mourinho can work on moulding him further.

Manchester United have been trying to find a solid midfielder who can double up as a striker. However, signing Talisca could either mean Mourinho rotates between him and Juan Mata or he could be looking to replace Mata completely.

Unlike Mata, Talisca has proven to be pretty consistent at Besiktas. He is a good finisher and is accurate when it comes to scoring as well. Scoring from long distances seem to be no issue for him and he is also generous when it comes to setting up for his teammates.

His physical strength is also a good attribute which can make him a good fit for United’s front line. Under Mourinho’s watchful eye, Talisca can become a better player in the upcoming years.

If the deal does go through, Juan Mata’s position will be at stake unless the former Chelsea star chooses to move out of the club. In order to prove himself, he will have to work towards becoming more consistent and start more often next season.

Manchester United have already invested in Victor Lindelof from Benfica and will now be expected sign a much-needed attacking midfielder from the Portuguese giants.
