Arsenal are willing to offer Liverpool target Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain a £100,000-a-week contract to keep him at the Emirates, according to reports

According to the Mirror, Arsenal are ready to make Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain a part of the £100,000-a-week bracket by offering him a new contract at the end of the season, amid interest from the likes of Liverpool, Manchester United and Manchester City.

They state that Arsene Wenger will open talks with the 23-year old within the next two weeks and that Arsenal are keen to tie down the Englishman to a new deal, with his current contract expiring in 2018.

They also state that Liverpool, Manchester City and Manchester United are all keeping tabs on the English international, who has been impressive in recent weeks – especially in his unfamiliar role as Arsenal’s right wing-back.

Things have not exactly gone to plan at Arsenal for Chamberlain, who despite a very impressive start to his Arsenal career has had to contend with being in and out of the first team due to a combination of injuries and poor form.

The Mirror claim that Chamberlain’s first priority is to get regular minutes on the pitch as he intends to break back into England’s national team – something he is definitely capable of as long as he shows more consistency.

Liverpool have been heavily linked with a move for the 23-year old, with Jurgen Klopp said to be a big fan of the English international and the club themselves not deterred by the supposed £35 millon valuation that Arsenal have placed on the midfielder.

Chamberlain’s combination of pace, direct running and explosiveness are always ingredients that Jurgen Klopp looks for in an attacking player and it is no surprise that the Liverpool manager is keeping tabs on his situation.

The Mirror also claim that Manchester United are keeping a close eye on the Arsenal midfielder, with the reports of their interest in signing him this summer emerging all the way back in February.

United will have no problem upping the bid for Chamberlain should they choose to but it is highly unlikely that Arsenal will agree to sell the midfielder to any of their direct rivals, especially given their struggles this season.

Chamberlain has been one of the bright spots in recent weeks for the Gunners and has also showcased just how versatile he can be with his performances in central midfield, right midfield as well as right wing-back.

And, if the Mirror are to be believed, Arsenal are willing to show that they recognise his quality by offering him a lucrative new contract. It remains to be seen whether or not Chamberlain will sign the contract but given his resurgence in recent weeks, many Arsenal fans will be hoping he does just that.
