Real Madrid have made Tottenham Hotspur captain Hugo Lloris a target for the summer transfer window, as per reports.

The Telegraph have reported that Tottenham Hotspur captain Hugo Lloris has been added to a shortlist of goalkeepers who will be targeted by Real Madrid in the summer transfer window, with Los Blancos of the belief that the Frenchman is a more realistic target.

Hugo Lloris has been goalkeeping extraordinaire for Tottenham Hotspur ever since he joined the club in 2012. Signed from Lyon for €10 million in 2012 after four successful years with the French giants, the custodian arrived in England with a burgeoning reputation.

Possessing quick reflexes and brilliant shot stopping skills, Lloris has also displayed remarkable abilities on the ball while constantly improving his confidence while sweeping, having initially struggled to hold his own in that regard.

Numbers tell the tale too, with Lloris conceding just 213 goals in 195 appearances in all competitions for Tottenham, keeping 68 clean sheets in the process. As a result, the France captain is considered as one of the best goalkeepers in the world, alongside the likes of Manuel Neuer, David De Gea, Gianluigi Buffon and Thibaut Courtois.

It now looks like Lloris’ rock solid displays between the sticks for Tottenham have seen him become a target for Real Madrid, with Los Blancos making him a target for a summer move to the Santiago Bernabeu.

A goalkeeping reinforcement is said to be the top transfer priority in the summer for Real Madrid. That is because neither Keylor Navas nor Kiko Casilla has been convincing enough in goal for Zinedine Zidane’s side this season, and therefore acquiring a marquee goalkeeper is right on top of their priorities in the summer.

David De Gea, who was chased by Real Madrid in a futile attempt in 2015, as well as Thibaut Courtois were reported to be the two preferred names for the Real Madrid boss, but the club is of the belief that Lloris would be easier to buy than the two former Atletico Madrid goalkeepers.

This is despite the fact that Lloris only signed a new contract with Tottenham back in December that is set to keep him at White Hart Lane until 2022. With Real Madrid desperate to sign a world class goalkeeper in the summer, they would go all out to buy Lloris.

Tottenham are confident that Lloris will not leave the club in the summer, but it now remains to be seen if Real Madrid can test their resolve, especially after Los Blancos failed miserably in their last pursuit of a top goalkeeper.
