Manchester United are reportedly set to submit a seven-figure bid to Nottingham Forest in order to bring their prodigious striker Ben Brereton over to Old Trafford.

The Daily Mirror have claimed that Manchester United are interested in Nottingham Forest prodigy Ben Brereton. The 17-year-old striker has been tracked by the Red Devils for quite some time now, as per the report, and the Premier League outfit is set to submit a seven-figure bid in order to sign the exciting youngster.

Ben Brereton is an out-and-out forward who came up through the ranks at Stoke before joining Nottingham Forest’s academy, and has continued to grow into an excellent prospect. The Englishman has been promoted to the Under-23 squad and has impressed with his performances.

Brereton has been on fire for Nottingham Forest’s Under-23 squad this season. The 17-year-old has 15 goals from just 20 outings, which seems to have caught the attention of Manchester United.

Despite his form for the Under-23 side, Brereton is yet to break through into the first-team squad at Nottingham Forest. But, the 17-year-old is thought to be very close and had the following to say when he was asked of his senior team prospects, as per Nottingham Post.

Brereton said, “I will keep working hard in the under-23 side, I will keep learning and hopefully I will get the chance to do what Joe Worrall and Matty Cash have done this season. I do look at them and think that if they can do it, maybe I can too. But the main thing is just to keep working hard and to see where that gets me. That is all I can do.”

The Englishman has just signed a new deal at Nottingham Forest on New Year’s Eve but that is unlikely to deter Manchester United from moving for the player. The Red Devils are reportedly set to offer upwards of £1 million for the 17-year-old.

Nottingham Forest have only recently seen one of their wonderkids, Oliver Burke, depart for RB Leipzig in a move that made the Scot the most expensive player in the history of the nation. And, it looks like another one of their highly-rated academy products could bet set for a switch to the top flight.
