Lucas Perez has revealed that Arsene Wenger has assured him that the chances will come as long as he is patient.

The Spaniard, who joined Arsenal from Deportivo la Coruna in a £17.1 million deal in the summer, who came off the bench to claim two assists for Mesut Ozil during Arsenal’s Champions League tie with Ludogorets, has yet to fully establish himself in an Arsenal side that has solid competition for places in each position.

Perez is still confident that he will break into the side, and according to The Mirror, Arsene Wenger has assured him of this as well.

“ The coach told me to be quiet because he trusts in me. He says that he has been following me for a long time and that he likes me so I have to be patient. He said that opportunities will come and today he has proved it. He is a good guy and is always there to help us.”

Perez has already scored 2 goals for Arsenal in just 4 appearances, both of which came against Nottingham Forest in the EFL Cup.

Perez was also out with a minor injury until last weekend which has seen him restricted mostly to the bench so far. The Spaniard looked lively against Ludogorets however, as he helped Mesut Ozil on his way to his first career hat-trick. The forward is a tenacious, pacy, hard-working player and was key to Deportivo’s survival bid last season, scoring 17 goals in 37 appearances. He has been compared to another former Arsenal target, Jamie Vardy, both in terms of playing style and attitude, and Wenger himself agreed with those comparisons earlier in the season.

Given that Arsenal are fighting on 4 fronts, and will no doubt hope to compete for major honours this season, there is no doubt that Lucas still has a part to play in their season.
