War of words between Inter Milan ultras and Argentine striker Mauro Icardi intensifies

Icardi was the subject of intense scrutiny from Arsenal over the summer signed a long-term contract with Inter Milan. However, the relations between the striker and fans of the club have soured to the point where they have unveiled a vicious banner condemning him

Icardi has drawn the wrath of a large group of Inter Milan ultras the Curva Nord, since releasing his book this weekend. In the book, he expressed his anger at an Ultra snatching his shirt from a young fan and throwing back at him after a 3-1 defeat to Sassuolo in February, 2015.

The 23-year-old striker further threatened to bring assassins from Argentina to kill members of the fan group.

The Curva Nord were quick to respond. They deemed the incident mentioned by Icardi as a lie and have released a statement demanding that Icardi give up the captain’s arm band.  In response to the statement the Argentine wrote a long letter of regret on Instagram two hours ahead of Inter’s game against Cagliari on Sunday.

This wasn’t enough for the Curva Nord though, as they unveiled a banner aimed at Icardi which stated, ” You are not a man… You are not a captain… You are a vile piece of ****.”

Premier League giants Arsenal were interested in Icardi over the summer. Representatives of the club reportedly met with Icardi’s agents back in July. It all culminated in the Argentine striker committing his future to I Nerazzurri shortly after the new season began.

However the situation has been turned on it’s head with this rift between player and fans. The war of words is sure to have a detrimental effect on the 23-year-old captain of Inter Milan. If things continue in this vein, then we could well see Icardi making a move away from the San Siro soon.
