Borussia Dortmund’s Henrikh Mkhitaryan is edging closer to a move to Premier League giants Manchester United.

In recent weeks speculation has been rife regarding the future of the Armenian captain after it was reported earlier in the season that the talismanic midfielder had rejected a new contract offer from Dortmund. The Armenian has since been linked to European giants like Juventus and Arsenal and it was reported that the Biaconeri had already begun discussing personal terms with the player.

However, according to his agent Mino Raiola, Manchester United was the 27-year-old’s preferred destination .  United had then made a bid for the midfielder, in the region of £19 million, but Dortmund were reluctant to let go of their prized asset.

However, in the last few days it was reported that Dortmund had finally given in to Mkhitaryan’s demands and would be willing to part with him for £32 million. Now it seems as if there have been positive developments on the story with SkySports reporting that negotiations for a transfer between the two clubs had reached an advanced stage. Mkhitaryan has reportedly agreed terms with Manchester United and will undergo a medical examination within the next week and transfer fee of £26.3 million has been agreed with Borussia Dortmund for the player.

His 23 goals and 32 assists last term included the season high 15 assists which he recorded in the Bundesliga alone. He was rewarded for his fine performances at the end of the season by being voted as The Bundesliga Player’s Player Of The Year. They have already lost Gundogan and Hummels this season, with Subotic and Aubameyang likely to follow. With only a year left on his contract, this would be a wise move by Borussia to sell Mkhitaryan and try and raise funds for more players.
