Barcelona were held to a 1-1 draw against Atletico Madrid at the Camp Nou as the Catalans failed to capitalize on Real Madrid’s slip-up against Villarreal.

Angel Correa’s 61st minute strike ensured that Atletico came away with a point while denying Barcelona an opportunity to cover up ground on Real Madrid at the top of the La Liga table. The Los Blancos were held to a 1-1 draw against Villarreal early on in their clash at the Santiago Bernabeu leaving the Blaugrana a tangible incentive to fight for a result against Diego Simeone’s men.

Ivan Rakitic delivered just at the stroke of half-time, sending Barcelona into the lead after he headed in a sumptuous cross from Andres Iniesta. However, that didn’t prove to be enough as Luis Enrique’s men had to settle for a point in what certainly was a tricky encounter for the defending champions.
