Atletico Madrid overturned a 2-1 first leg deficit in emphatic fashion, as their French forward Antoine Griezmann scored a brace to guide them into the semi-finals in a high octane encounter at the Vicente Calderon.

Griezmann proved to be the difference maker in an historic European night for Atletico. His first goal in the first half nudged the door open for an upset victory against Barcelona, and he smashed the gates to the semifinals wide open with a second half penalty.

The 3-2 aggregate score meant that the reigning champions and favorites bow out to Atletico in the quarterfinals, a repeat of the two teams’ Champions League story from two years ago.
