Pep Guardiola certainly welcomed speculation by announcing his intention to manage a Premier League club. However, Manchester United might not be one of those clubs, as they are reportedly not looking to sign the Spaniard.
Guardiola’s contract with Bayern Munich comes to an end in the summer of 2016, and the Catalan has refused to sign an extension with the Bavarian club.

Due to this, Bayern Munich went forward and signed former AC Milan, Chelsea FC and Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti, who is currently enjoying a one-year sabbatical. Ancelotti is set to take over the reins at the Allianz Arena at the start of the next season.
Premier League clubs scurrying for Guardiola?
A number of Premier League’s top clubs have managerial issues currently, and there might be a huge scrap to land Guardiola’s signature, by the end of the season. Manchester City do not seem to be particularly happy with Manuel Pellegrini’s performance this season, and the Chilean could be gone after this season.
The same goes for Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal, who is drawing boos from his own fans nowadays, as they neither seem to like his “philosophy” of football, nor the results that it is producing. Chelsea FC are also in with a shout in this race, after they fired fan favourite Jose Mourinho, after a run of disasterous results that say them hovering just above the relegation zone in December.
Manchester United throws in the towel
However the main reason why Manchester United do not seem to be trying to land Guardiola is because they believe that rivals Manchester City have almost completed their deal with Guardiola, and it is only a matter of time before the inevitable is announced, according to Manchester Evening News.
There have also been rumours that Manchester City would is trying to reunite Guardiola and FC Barcelona player Lionel Messi at the Etihad. This in fact, could work out very well, as Guardiola would get Messi, Messi would get his former manager, and Manchester City would get both. Everyone’s a winner if this were to happen.
We should probably spare a thought for Manuel Pellegrini though!
