Manchester United Need To Create More Chances, Says Louis Van Gaal

Manchester United might have managed a slender 1-0 win over Sheffield United in the third round of the FA Cup, but manager Louis van Gaal feels that his side needs to create better chances to get good results.

“We have to do it [create chances] better than this match of course,” Van Gaal was quoted as saying by Manchester United’s official website. “We have to move the ball quicker and then the gaps will come. You have to see it as a player and the pass has to be at the right speed.”

However, Van Gaal also defended his team by saying that Manchester United were much better than their League One opponents.

“We can improve in that but how many chances did Sheffield United create? Nobody is talking about that, everybody is talking about the fantastic defence of Sheffield United – I donai??i??t think you can do any differently as a player of the League One level,” said Van Gaal.

Van Gaal all praises for Depay

.

Memphis has come under a lot of criticism after his big money move to the Old Trafford in te summer of 2015. The young Dutchman’s performances have also stated that he is far from justifying the A?27 million price tag that Manchester United paid for him.

Depay has largely disappointed with his performances, scoring a total of just three goals this season. However, as Manchester United’s FA Cup match against Sheffield United wore on towards a drab 0-0 draw, Depay produced a bit of an individual flair, to earn the Read Devils the crucial penalty that Wayne Rooney scored from. Van Gaal was very happy that Depay chose to drive into the box, and create the goalscoring chance that led to the goal.

“At the end we got the penalty and it was a deserved penalty because of a stray leg. Memphis had the guts to do that [make the run to win it]. He was more or less the matchwinner,” said Van Gaal.

“We won the game which is the most important thing and I said to the boys before the match the only thing that counts is we are in the fourth round and we did it.”
