The Real Madrid legend heaped praise on Chelsea FC superstar Eden Hazard, confessing that he loves to watch the ‘spectacular’ Belgian play
Eden Hazard has often spoken of his admiration for legendary France midfielder Zinedine Zidane, and the former Real Madrid superstar reciprocated recently with some kind words of his own about the Chelsea FC attacker.
Zidane, who is currently the coach of Real Madrid Castilla, claimed the Belgian is his favourite player after Messi and Ronaldo, but refused to comment on whether he could see the Blues’ No 10 playing for Real Madrid some day.
Zidane hails ‘spectacular’ Hazard
Even though Eden Hazard has not played his best football this season, there have been signs of recovery in the past few games, and words of praise from his hero Zinedine Zidane will only serve to boost his confidence further.
The 43-year-old is quoted by the Daily Mail . as saying: “After Messi and Ronaldo, Hazard is my favourite player. I love watching him because he is a player who creates things and it is often spectacular to see him play.
“Do I see him going to Real Madrid? Ask someone else. I love the player and that’s all.”
The Frenchman insisted that he remains a fan despite the 24-year-old’s poor season so far. “I’m still a fan of Eden,” added Zidane. “Every career has its highs and lows. I have no doubts. He will be back.”
First move by Real Madrid to test the waters?
It is entirely possible that Zidane’s comments were completely innocuous and that the Real Madrid Castilla coach had no ulterior motive in expressing his views about the Belgian. However, the Spanish giants have used him as a recruiting tool before with great success, most notably to snatch Rapha l Varane from under the nose of Manchester United.
Given the poor season Hazard is having, there have been rumours about a possible move away, with Real Madrid supposedly his preferred destination. The comments from Zidane could well be a way for the club to test the waters with the Belgian — to gauge whether or not he really is interested in a transfer to the Spanish capital.
