Video: Brendan Rodgers Disappointed By Joe Gomez’ Defending Leading To Sion Goal

A much changed Liverpool FC were held to a 1-1 draw by Swiss side FC Sion in their second game of UEFA Europa League tie. Reds manager Brendan Rodgers expressed his disappointment with teenager Joe Gomez’ defending in the build-up to the game.

.

Liverpool FC took an early lead in the fourth minute when Adam Lallana tapped in after good work from Divock Origi on the flanks. However, the Reds were pegged back quickly, when Nathaniel Clyne gave away the ball cheaply, which was then picked up by Sion midfielder who lobbed a pass over the head of Liverpool FC defence for Ebenezer Assifuah to score.

A look at the goal and one can easily make out that Joe Gomez got sucked in by the opposition attacker, pressing too early and being unaware of the space being created behind him, which ultimately led to the lobbed pass in the area.

Rodgers criticized the defender in the post-game comments for his mistake and the Reds faithful will be hoping that the defender learns from his mistake.
