Van Persie to be the next premier league star in Serie A?

The Dutchman, who turns 32 in August, has recently admitted that his desire to start more games may play a factor in his future this summer. With the European Championships approaching in 2016, Van Persie may be tempted by a move to Serie A Champions and Champions League Finalists, Juventus.

The 31 year old endured a tumultuous year at Old Trafford, starting only 26 games and scoring a dismal 10 goals in all competitions. With United set to bolster their squad with a transfer spree of 200 million, Van Persie would likely be relegated to the role of an impact substitute, as situation he does not desire given the impending European Championships in 2016.

Juventus are one of the suitors to Van Persie’s signature and would be eager to welcome RVP to the Old Lady of Turin, where his experience and leadership would be pivotal to a Juventus team who will be looking to build on their surprising journey to the Champions League finals. A different playing style in a league with reduced physicality and pace might just be what it takes to rejuvenate a dejected Van Persie.

Italy has recently become a favored destination for ageing premier league players, with the likes Ashley Cole, Nemanja Vidic and Patrice Evra deciding to spend their twilight years plying their trade in Serie A.
