Van Gaal: Giggs Will Be The Next Manchester United Manager

Louis van Gaal backs hard-working Ryan Giggs to succeed him as the next Manchester United manager.

After David Moyes was sacked towards the end of last season – after a dismal performance throughout his time at the club – former player, Ryan Giggs, took up the role of interim player-manager at Manchester United. The Wales international was in charge for four games and recorded two wins, a draw and a defeat during his spell.

Last summer, Manchester United appointed Louis Van Gaal to take up the manager’s role and Giggs has been assisting the Dutchman since. The former Bayern Munich manager, whose current contract runs to an end in 2017, has praised the former United player for his attitude and the work he has done as the managera s assistant.

“I expect that he (Giggs) will be the next manager after I am gone,” Van Gaal told MUTV.

“Now I have the responsibility. He has tasks that he has to perform like the players. What he has to do, for me, he does it very well.”

Speaking last week, Van Gaal also spoke about the hard work that Giggs puts in and said that he sees similarities between the Welshman and his former assist at Barcelona and current Chelsea manager, Jose Mourinho.

He said: “I have to admit, I could not imagine when I spoke with him (Giggs) in May, that he would work so very hard. As an ex-player, you are not used to working hard. He is a very hard worker.

“He reads the game very good, like Jose. But to manage a group you have to learn. What I can see is that he is also learning quickly.”

Giggs spent his entire career as a player with Manchester United. The midfielder made 963 appearances for the club and managed the club for 4 games last season.
