Managers rarely find themselves in the luxurious position of having two top quality goalkeepers to choose from, but Jose Mourinho may have to accept that veteran Petr Cech deserves to be given regular first-team action elsewhere. The 32-year-old has been a wonderful servant for Chelsea since arriving in 2004, with Cech playing a pivotal role in the considerable success that the club have enjoyed throughout the last decade. Mourinho holds Cech in high regard and would prefer to keep him at Stamford Bridge, but with Thibault Courtois establishing himself as the cluba s number one this season, it has forced the Czech Republic international to consider moving on to pastures new.
There will be no shortage of takers during the summer transfer market, with Bookies already naming a number of clubs across Europe who are lining up to secure his services. It would certainly within Chelseaa s best interests not to let Cech go to a Premier League rival and boost their chances of competing for the title, so a move to Europe appears inevitable for a goalkeeper who still has plenty to offer at the highest level.
Real Madrid
There will come a time when Iker Casillasa time at Real Madrid comes to an end, and if his continual indifferent performances for club and country are anything to go by, then it could well be this summer. a Saint Ikera will always remain a legend at Los Blancos, but even if the 35-year-old is willing to be understudy next season, the fact that Keylor Navas has failed to impress may result in a foray into the transfer market. Ancelotti is aware of Cecha s qualities, having spent time together during a brief spell as Chelsea manager between 2009 and 2011, and would undoubtedly jump at the chance of signing a goalkeeper who could do an excellent job at the Bernabau.
Besiktas
Cech would not be blamed for considering something different from the norm, with Besiktas surfacing as a potential destination in the summer. The Turkish Super Lig side are currently embroiled in a three-way battle for the title, but Slaven Bilic already appears to have one eye on improving his squad by opening talks with Cech. He would not only be the next big-name player to make the move to Turkey to enhance its domestic profile, but also join former team-mate Demba Ba who has already become a firm favourite with the fans.
Paris Saint-Germain
Swapping one rich club for another may appeal to Cech, but it remains to be seen whether he would be willing to move to Paris Saint-Germain where, arguably, he would not be guaranteed regular first-team action. Salvatore Sirigu is the current number one, and after another impressive season in goal for a team who are on the verge of winning the Ligue 1 title for the third consecutive year, it would seem unlikely that Laurent Blanc would bring Cech in to replace the Italian. Their interest may stem from a willingness to provide Sirigu with considerable competition for his first-team spot, but at the age of 32, Cech should only move to a club where he will be number one to crown what has been a fantastic career for the Czech Republic international.
