Santi Cazorla Reveals Interest From Atletico Madrid But Feels Valued At Arsenal

Arsenal

Can he undo Schalke's defense?

The attacking midfielder has been linked with a move to the Spanish champions but says he is happy with life in London.

The Arsenal midfielder admits he has heard of interest in him from Atletico Madrid, but says he is happy at Arsenal.

The Spaniard reportedly came close to leave the Emirates last summer but decided to stay.

However he’s played an integral role for the Gunners this season and Arsene Wenger would be reluctant to let him leave. That shouldn’t be an issue, as long as Arsenal can keep him happy.

The attacking midfielder has enjoyed his best season yet since moving to England, featuring in all but one of the Gunners’ Premier League games so far and netting seven goals.

This form has reportedly attracted the attention of the Spanish champions, with Diego Simeone believed to be keen on bringing the 30-year-old back to La Liga with Atletico.

Cazorla, however, says he is happy with life in London a at least for the time being.

“I’ve heard [about Atletico’s interest], like everybody,” the midfielder told El Mundo.

“But at the moment there is nothing concrete, only rumours. I don’t worry about that.

“I’m focused on Arsenal, where I am very happy. I have another year on my contract and the option for one more.

However, when pushed on the subject, Cazorla did admit that players never know their fate in football.

“As long as I feel valued, I will continue here… although you never know what the future will bring in football.”

Cazorla also spoke fondly of his lifestyle in London: “I live in Hampstead, 15 minutes from the training ground, and it’s really nice.

“It’s the perfect place for my kids to go to school… very calm. They’re picking up the language quickly, which is really important for me and my wife.”

The former Villarreal man went on to speak about current Manager Arsene Wenger, revealing that he is capable of laying down the law to his players despite his serene exterior.

“I’m telling you… When he gets angry, he’s not as calm as he seems,” said Cazorla.

“When things don’t go as he wants, he has a real go at us. That’s normal.”

One thing is sure ,Atletico would have to shell out a huge fee to make the Gunners sell their In-form playmaker.
