Ronaldo does not deserve to be Ballon d’Or finalist, says Alves; supports Real Madrid expulsion from Copa

FC Barcelona defender Dani Alves called for Real Madrid to be kicked out of the Copa del Rey for fielding an ineligible player, while also taking aim at Los Blancos talisman Cristiano Ronaldo

The Brazilian right-back continued his crusade against the country’s capital, responding with brutal honesty when asked his opinion about ‘Cheryshev-gate’. The 32-year-old also insisted that Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo did not deserve to be among the Ballon d’Or final three.

Recently, Dani Alves refused to speak to Madrid-based publications AS and Marca ahead of Barcelona’s UEFA Champions League clash against Roma, and although no explicit reason was provided, the Brazilian is clearly not particularly taken with Real Madrid at the moment.

Ronaldo does not deserve to be Ballon d’Or finalist; Real Madrid should be kicked out

Much like team-mate Gerard Piqu , Dani Alves has never been one to shy away from voicing his opinion, and the Brazilian has now weighed in on the topics of ‘Cheryshev-gate’, as well as team-mate Luis SuA?rez’s exclusion from the final three nominees of the FIFA Ballon d’Or.

Alves is quoted by Goal as saying: “Messi is a bit ahead, because of his influence on the game. I think at this moment, Neymar is second best in the world.

.

“Cristiano Ronaldo doesn’t deserve to be among the Ballon d’Or finalists. It’s not only about scoring goals.”

The former Sevilla right-back also called for Real Madrid to be expelled from the Copa del Rey for fielding the ineligible Denis Cheryshev, and now seems to have got his wish.

Alves spoke to Spanish radio station Cadena COPE, saying (via Bleacher Report): “Such things shouldn’t be happening at a club like Real Madrid. They should be kicked out of the competition, on account of the previous games played, and in line with the rules. There’s no argument that stands up.”

Real Madrid’s latest humiliation not all down to Ben tez

According to several Spanish football experts, Rafael Ben tez has never truly managed to settle down at Real Madrid, or indeed get all of his players and the media on his side. This latest humiliation, then, will only add to his woes.

However, the blame lies more with Real Madrid and the person(s) responsible for ensuring the eligibility of all selected players in the matchday squad than with the former Liverpool FC manager.

The Spaniard should be forgiven for not knowing about the suspension Cheryshev picked up in the competition last season while on loan at Villarreal, but is a convenient scapegoat for the latest humiliation in a Real Madrid season that is threatening to descend into a farce.
