Real Madrid Target Refuses To Extend Valencia Contract: Report

Valencia left-back Jose Luis Gaya, who has been linked to Real Madrid, has refused to extend his contract as he wants to lower his buy-out clause.

That Real Madrid are going to be very active in the upcoming transfer window is a no-brainer. They have already made their first purchase in the form of Brazilian right-back Danilo. And now, recent reports are suggesting that left-back Jose Luis Gaya will be the next summer recruitment for a Los Blancosa .

The Valencia left-back has been in fine form so far this season and at just 19 years of age, the Spaniard is a potential star in the making. His contract with Valencia is due to expire in 2018 and not surprisingly, Valencia are keen to extend his stay at the club. However, the negotiations of a new contract have stalled as the club and the playera s representatives have failed to reach an agreement.

According to several reports from Spain, including COPE and Valencia’s SuperDeporte, the club have offered Gaya a new contract that will see his buy-out clause raised from a 18 million to a 40 million. It is believed that the defender wants the buy-out clause to not be raised more than a 30 million.

Real Madrid are believed to be on the look-out for fresh talent as they might be ready to offload Fabio Coentrao in the summer. With the purchase of Danilo, Real Madrid have made it clear that they are looking to get rid of deadwood like Arbeloa and inject the squad with fresh, young energy. Similarly, Fabio Coentraoa s future at the club is hanging in balance, as the left-back has time and again suffered from fitness issues and has failed to make himself a regular face in the starting line-up.

Jose Luis Gayaa s contract with Valencia expires in 2018 and if the defender does not sign an extension, Real Madrid have the option to trigger his a 18 million buy-out clause. It seems like Real Madrid are closer than ever to sign the left-back in the summer for a reasonable transfer fee.
