Real Madrid Are Monitoring Liverpool’s Raheem Sterling Amidst Contract Stand-Offs, Admits Zinedine Zidane

Liverpool forward Raheem Sterling is being monitored by Real Madrid, Zinedine Zidane has reported.

So far, there had only been reports and speculation surrounding Liverpool attacker Raheem Sterling. A lot of media outlets had reported over the last few months that Real Madrid among other clubs, were interested in signing 20-year old Raheem Sterling.

We know who Raheem Sterling is, and of course we are monitoring him as a player,’ Zidane said.

‘There are very few players in the world who can improve the Real Madrid squad, so it is going to make sense we monitor the progress of the best young players in the world.

‘We monitored Bale for over a year, the same with Isco and also Varane.

‘We monitor many of the best young players in Europe, then if we feel they have something to offer Real Madrid we will contact their club and try and make the next step.’

These comments made by Zinedine Zidane have confirmed the speculation and added further uncertainty to Sterling’s future with the club. The England international infuriated a few by going public about his contract dispute with the club and told the media that he will discuss his future, and sign the extension (if) in the summer after he has thought everything out.

A lot will depend on whether the Merseysiders finish with Champions League football next season. The European Golden Boy winner will not want to stay if there is no continental football in the offing and his decision could not be argued in modern day scenarios. Things seem to be going from bad to worse for the club as their humiliating 4-1 loss at the hands of Arsenal has left them with little, if any, hopes of a top 4 place this season.

Brendan Rodgers also admitted that failure to finish in the top 4 will also cost Liverpool in the summer as they find it very hard to attract top quality talent.

He said, a It makes it difficult, therea s no doubt about that. Most players want to be in the Champions League. They want to play at the top level of the game and if youa re not in the Champions League it makes it difficult for you. We know that.

a Ita s going to be a little like this until we become more stable. Wea ve got young players who are growing, getting more experience and then hopefully there will be a period where we qualify again. We want to be in the Champions League. Thata s important and it is key for us.

a Ita s highly unlikely this year. But Liverpool is a great club. I said that before I came into it. Ita s a phenomenal club that players want to play for.a
