PSG manager Laurent Blanc confirms interest in Manchester United record signing A?ngel Di MarAi??a

The former Real Madrid winger endured a tough d but season at Manchester United despite a scintillating start to his Premier League career, and with his relationship with manager Louis van Gaal reportedly less than cordial, a move to the French capital could materialise this summer with PSG showing a keen interest

A?ngel Di Mar a could be one of a handful of high-profile names leaving Old Trafford this summer – along with the likes of Robin van Persie and David De Gea – with Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain confirming their interest in the A?60 million British transfer record signing.

PSG were reportedly interested in signing the Argentina international last summer from Real Madrid too, but were unable to compete financially with the English giants because of the restrictions placed on them by European football’s governing body – UEFA – for breach of FFP regulations.

This summer, however, with UEFA not only lifting those sanctions, but also relaxing FFP regulations for all European clubs, PSG have reignited their ambitions to sign Di Mar a, according to reports in France and England.

Radio Monte-Carlo (RMC) Sport claim that the Argentine international might well be the top priority of PSG this summer, after the French club received encouragement not just from the player, but also from Manchester United, who are reportedly not completely opposed to the sale.

According to the reports, PSG will try to reach an agreement with Di Mar a and his agent Jorge Mendes first – with the Argentine reportedly seeking a salary of a 12.5 million net annually – before approaching Manchester United.

To add to that, PSG manager Laurent Blanc confirmed the club’s interest in the Manchester United winger in an interview with French magazine L’Equipe (via ESPN FC), saying: “Di Maria, he’s good. We have more freedom, but it remains a difficult project for us because we’re not alone in wanting him.

“When you see the financial power of the English clubs, they are attacking everyone. Competition is very, very tough. Don’t forget, Manchester United paid a fortune to sign him. For us to work effectively, we have to think of other solutions. We must be proactive.”

The ‘other solution’ is reportedly former Chelsea FC midfielder Kevin de Bruyne. However, it appears likely that PSG will make a concerted effort to sign Di Mar a this summer, particularly if the player is keen on a move and Manchester United are open to a sale.

That scenario is not entirely inconceivable, given the signings Louis van Gaal has made this summer – in particular, that of Memphis Depay from PSV Eindhoven in the Dutch Eredivisie. As they have shown with De Gea, however, United will not sell a player like Di Mar a on anybody else’s terms but theirs, and constructing a deal that is agreeable to all parties is likely to take the remainder of the summer window.
