Reports in Spain have heavily linked the Spaniard with the job at Manchester City, however, BBC’s Spanish football journalist Graham Hunter reveals that it is the other Manchester side that has caught the eye of Pep Guardiola.

Manager Louis van Gaal is coming under increased pressure for the poor brand of football being played at Old Trafford, and with the exit from the Champions League and results starting to go wrong, his long-term future at United appears to be under scrutiny.

Hunter was quoted saying by the BBC: “If the cards fall his way, his wish is to sample life at Manchester United for a variety of reasons.”

The journalist went on to reveal that Guardiola’s failed move to Old Trafford late on in his career and the admiration for the atmosphere at Old Trafford and United’s status in world football are the prime reasons for his interest in taking over the English outfit.

Hunter added: “The move didn’t happen but when he’s come back to Manchester subsequently he’s looked at the Old Trafford atmosphere, the legends and he has felt ‘this is right for mea .”

Taking Brazil to the Qatar World Cup 2022 is another option that is on the list of the FC Barcelona great, as per Hunter.

An announcement on Guardiola’s next move is soon expected, and United fans would hope that this one goes their way.
