Neymar Scores On His 100th Appearance, As FC Barcelona Suffer Second Defeat In Three Games [Tweets]

Spanish Champions FC Barcelona were stunned at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan as they suffered a shocking 2-1 defeat at the hands of Sevilla, missing out on the chance to leapfrog Villarreal at the top of the table. Neymar marked his 100th appearance for the club with a goal, as Luis Enrique expressed his frustration after the defeat.

Luis Enrique’s men fell to a second loss in three games as Michael Krohn-Dehli and Vicente Iborra were on the mark for Sevilla. The visitors were without talisman Lionel Messi and Andres Iniesta, and could go into the international break four points adrift of the leaders.

Unai Emery’s men knew they had an aerial advantage over Barcelona and it could clearly be witnessed as a tactic, as the colossal Vicente Iborra, Grzegorz Krychowiak and Stephen N’Zonzi formed the Sevilla midfield.

The first goal came when Kevin Gameiro outran Jordi Alba down the left wing, whipped the ball across, only for the goalkeeper to deflect it into the feet of an unmarked Michael Krohn-Dehli for a simple tap in.

Krohn-Dehli was in the thick of the action again, when his cross was met by the towering presence of Vicente Iborra who headed home to double the hosts’ lead. Neymar did pull one back for Barcelona, but to futile effect.

Barcelona fans were delighted to watch Neymar score on his 100th appearance, and Luis Enrique suggested Barcelona should have easily won considering the amount of chances they created.
