Maybe De Gea Wants To Go: Manchester United Manager Louis van Gaal

De Gea is poised to join Real Madrid

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has admitted that the David De Gea transfer saga a is not favourablea for the club.

Manchester United and Real Madrid have been involved in a drawn-out transfer saga this summer, which has turned into a soap opera by now. The Spanish giants have set their eyes on David de Gea as the long-term replacement for Iker Casillas, who has left the club to join Porto. United on the other hand have demanded Sergio Ramos in return for the Spanish goalkeeper. But the English cluba s initial grip on the situation seems to slipping away as with Marca claiming that Ramos has signed a new long-term contract with the club.

.

It looks like the Spanish defender used Manchester Uniteda s interest in him to get himself a big contract a a ploy which isna t uncommon in todaya s world. This leaves the Red Devils in a perilous situation as it seems unlikely that Real Madrid will stop their pursuit of De Gea this summer.

De Gea was part of the starting line-up that Louis van Gaal selected for their match against PSG earlier today. The French club cruised to a 2-0 victory to lift the International Champions Cup, with Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Blaise Matuidi getting on the scoresheet.

A distracted David de Gea?

De Gea was partially responsible for the first goal that United conceded in the match. He came off his line and was caught in no mana s land as Matuidi poked the ball past him into the back of the net. That was in fact the Spaniarda s second mistake in the game. Earlier, he handed Zlatan Ibrahimovic a glorious opportunity with a poor clearance, but thankfully for United, the Swede failed to punish that mistake. Louis van Gaal had seen enough and he replaced De Gea with Sam Johnstone at the start of the second half.

In his post-match comments, Louis van Gaal accepted that the whole situation surrounding De Geaa s uncertain future at the club is not favourable.

“Poor I cannot say but he made a mistake. Thata s not poor. Everybody can makes mistakes but when a goalkeeper makes a mistake it is usually ends in a goal and thata s the difference.

“We have a situation that is not favourable for David De Gea but neither for us, or the club. Maybe he wants to go.” a The Manchester United manager was quoted as saying by the Express.

This situation needs to be resolved quickly

It is perhaps in best interest of both the clubs to resolve this issue as soon as possible. United need to make a good start to their season and they face Tottenham Hotspur in their opening game of the Premier League. The last thing they need is a goalkeeper in the line-up who is distracted about his future. Louis van Gaal has already signed Sergio Romero as a back-up, and quickly resolving this transfer saga will also provide them with more time to find a replacement for the Spaniard.
