Marco Reus’ latest injury scare could keep him out of Ruhr Derby

It was a game of high and low for Marco Reus as he opened the scoring in Borussia Dortmund’s 4-0 demolition of Azerbaijani side FK Quabala in their Europa league group game before being substituted at half time due to injury.

Dortmund head coach Thomas Tuchel expressed his uncertainty about Reus’ involvement in their next game, the Ruhr Derby against bitter rivals Schalke 04 on Sunday.

“Anything is possible. It’s possible that Marco Reus might miss the next match.”, he said, according to goal.com.

“Marco had his foot on the ball when he lost his balance during a tackle. He then felt a tear in his groin area. He continued to play but came to the bench immediately after his goal.”, said Tuchel speaking further about Reus’ injury.

“The injury had happened before the goal, he wanted to finish the half though. This is in a different area than the problems he has had before. There is definitely cause for concern.”

Reus might miss out

Borussia Dortmund face crosstown rivals Schalke 04 on the 8th of November as they look to repeat the heroics of their 3-0 win during the previous encounter at home at the Westfalonstadion. Reus would have been a key player in the bitterly contested Ruhr derby but the injury prone striker will most likely find it difficult to recover in such a short space of time.

This is the latest in a string of injuries that Reus has suffered which have hampered his playing, including one that saw him miss out on the 2014 FIFA world cup for home country Germany.
