Bayern Munich striker Thomas Muller will not be leaving the Allianz Arena, according to CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, in light of interest from Manchester United.

The German’s future has been the subject of much speculation in recent weeks, with Manchester United said to be interested in signing the 25-year-old. Last week, it was widely reported that the Old Trafford based club have had a bid in the region of a 100 million turned down by the Bavarias for the World Cup winner.

Thomas will never leave FC Bayern – Karl-Heinz Rummenigge

Muller was reportedly unhappy with the club after he was dropped by coach Pep Guardiola for a couple of key-games last season. The duo were also allegedly involved in a training ground confrontation earlier this month. The Red Devils were looking to capitalize on it and lure the striker away from the Allianz Arena.

Speaking to German daily Sport Bild, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge said:

“Thomas Muller is not for sale. I have the feeling that Thomas will never leave FC Bayern. He feels great here.

“When Thomas retires one day, we’d like to integrate him into the club, if he wants to do.”

Rummenigge also reiterated the club’s desire to keep Muller beyond his current contract that expires in 2019, and claimed that talks over extending the same will begin shortly.

Speaking about Muller’s contract, he was quoted saying by Sports Bild: “We have already accounted for it last year, at that time he had contract for another three years. Ahead of time, we prolonged it for another two years, and increased his salary.

“The one thing does not rule out the other. Let’s wait and see.”

Manchester United to turn their attention elsewhere?

After Louis Van Gaal’s statement that the Red Devils were in the process of signing a ‘surprise’ player, Thomas Muller was heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford. Reports had suggested that Muller was the ‘surprise’ player Manchester United manager wanted to sign to share the goal-scoring burden with captain Wayne Rooney.

The club have already sold striker Robin van Persie to Fenerbahce, with Radamel Falcao having returned to his parent club AS Monaco after the completion of his loan in which he failed miserably. The Colombian has since moved to rivals Chelsea FC on a one-year loan in a bid to prove himself on the English shores.

However, this has left Manchester United light in the striker’s department, with Wayne Rooney and Real Madrid-return Javier Hernandez as the only two recognized senior strikers in their ranks.

The Red Devils have had a brilliant summer so far, with the recruitment of five World Class players. However, they are reportedly still looking to sign a player up top. With Bayern Munich unwilling to let their star striker leave, the Old Trafford outfit will have to look elsewhere to sign a striker.Fernando Llorente, Karim Benzema and Zlatan Ibrahimovic are the other names linked with a move to the 20-times English champions.
