Borussia Dortmund center half Mats Hummels has handed Manchester United a huge boost by admitting that he will quit his current club as it will be a gooda for him.
The Germany international, who was one of the top performers at the World Cup and guided his nation to the title, has seemingly become disillusioned with life in Dortmund as the former Bundesliga champions continue to find some form.
Dortmund, who finished second in the league in the last couple of seasons and also reached the finals of the Champions League just a couple of seasons ago, have had a horrendous year. Jurgen Kloppa s side are currently 10th in the table and 12 points behind Schalke who are in fourth and final Champions League spot.
While there was a lot of positivity surrounding the German club after Marco Reus signed a new deal with the club just a few weeks ago, it all seems to be going downhill again. Hummelsa statement will come as a shock for the fans and the club hierarchy as the player had said that he would a nevera leave Die Borussen till last year.
“Basically … I think moving abroad will be good for my professional and personal well being. Eventually, I’d like to leave the Bundesliga. “
The 26-year-old, who has been linked with Louis van Gaala s Manchester United since the Dutchmana s arrival at the club last summer, said that he was being forthright about what he felt, unlike some other players.
“I’m being open about this because I’m not a fan of those who claim they are staying but, behind the scenes, have actually secretly agreed a transfer away from their current club.”
Van Gaal is set to be given a A?150m budget for new players in the summer as he continues to rebuild this United team. The 63-year-old spent over the aforementioned amount last summer but most of his recruits were either in the midfield department or the attacking one. Van Gaal is reportedly on the hunt for a ball playing central defender and Hummels is his top target.
