Manchester United Set To Make A Fresh A?35m Bid For Mats Hummels

Manchester United have made Borussia Dortmund captain Mats Hummels their top transfer target as the club is ready to launch a fresh A?35m for the German World Cup winner.

Defensive troubles have become the highlight of this season for Manchester United so far as the likes of Jonny Evans, Chris Smalling and Phil Jones have spent more time on the dressing table than on the pitch.

Louis van Gaal wants to avoid this scenario again next season and have already started scouting for a defender who can lead their defence for years to come. And Mats Hummels of Borussia Dortmund and Diego Godin of Atletico Madrid are on top of the wish list of the Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal.

Mats Hummels, 26, is being linked with Manchester United since past one year but he has always played down talk of a move to the Premier League giants.

But Borussia Dortmund are struggling badly in Bundesliga as they are languishing in the 19th place and many of their first team members, including Mats Hummels, have become disillusioned with the current scenario as they now look ready to leave the club in summer transfer window.

Meanwhile, reports coming from England and Germany have also confirmed the desire of Manchester United to launch a fresh A?35m bid for the Borussia Dortmund defender.

The Daily Mirror has claimed that Manchester United are set to make a fresh A?35million bid to land Germany World Cup winner Mats Hummels. United failed to land Hummels in the summer but are ready to test Borussia Dortmunda s resolve to hold on to their captain and star defender with a new offer.

Louis van Gaal has been forced to alter his defencive formation on a regular basis this season as Phil Jones, Chris Smalling, Jonny Evans, Marcos Rojo and Luke Shaw remain sidelined due to injury quite frequently.

Manchester United authorities believe that Mats Hummels has enough quality to become a long term successor of Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic. The current position of Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga has raised the hopes of Manchester United management if getting their man.

Dortmund have won just four of their 17 league games this season. And the Bundesliga champions in 2011 and 2012, Borussia Dortmund are in real danger of a suffering a shock relegation.
