Manchester United Have De Gea’s Replacement In Valdes, Says Former Player

FC Barcelona - Areas That Require Attention

Manchester United have been linked with several goalkeepers to replace the imminent departure of David de Gea, but former player Dwight Yorke believes the club already has a replacement for the Spaniard.

From Jan Oblak to Keylor Navas, Manchester United have been linked with a bevy of goalkeepers to replace David de Gea, who does indeed looks like a Real Madrid player for next season.

Petr Cech was identified as a target but Arsenal have won the race for the Czech international.

.

Former player Dwight Yorke emphasized that the Chelsea goalkeeper would have been an ideal replacement for the Spaniard.

a The likes of Petr Cech could have been a candidate to replace De Gea.”

However, Valdes, who signed on a free transfer last season, would be a good replacement for de Gea, according to Yorke.

“Victor Valdes probably thinks he would have a good opportunity. Hea s got a wealth of experience and has won everything in the game. He will probably be a suitable candidate and fill that gap.”

Yorke did coyly add that a deal for De Gea hadn’t been done and he was still a Manchester United player.

a But the fact that De Gea still remains at Manchester United shows a deal has not been done.a

Yorke also said that United needed someone like Gareth Bale, to target the title next season and he would be an ideal fit at Old Trafford.

a I would get Gareth Bale in, thata s what United need . . . a player who will just take the ball and run. Hea s British, hea s exciting, hea s quick, fast, he goes past people and that will lift everyone going forward. That would excite everybody. And he will be loved here [at Man United], he will be far more appreciated because the people here know what to expect.

a The Spanish are hard people, they are used to the likes of Romario and Ronaldo a the dribblers with the silky skills.

a In all fairness, Bale is not silky a he is a powerhouse with great pace and thata s best for England.

a When he is in full flow he is one of the best in the world. Thata s why Madrid paid all the money for him. If I was signing one player for United this summer, it would be him.a
