Manchester United Goalkeeper Linked With Another Spanish Club

FC Barcelona - Areas That Require Attention

Manchester United goalkeeper Victor Valdes has emerged as a transfer target for Spanish club Valencia.

Reports in Spain suggest that Valencia are ready to make a move for the Manchester United’s no 2 goalkeeper as a replacement for their injured goalkeeper

Diego Alves. Alves is out with a long term injury that could rule him out for the majority of next season. With Manchester United already resigned to lose one goalkeeper in De Gea to Spanish Team Real Madrid, they are reluctant to sell another.

Valdes had signed for Manchester United on a free transfer from FC Barcelona following a long term injury that kept him out of the game for over a year. Valdes began training with Manchester United in October 2014, completing its recovery.

In January, Valdes signed a new 18 month contract with an option of another year. The staff at United, who have seen him, believe Valdes has fully recovered from the injury suffered 15 months ago.

He had to be on the bench until 17th May, when finally against Arsenal FC, Valdes came on as a substitute to the injured David De Gea. Valdes played the full 90 minutes in the final game of the Premier League season making two excellent saves against Hull City.

With Manchester United posting a record a 159 Profit, the club are in no real rush to sell the players in the squad to acquire new ones.

It is also reported that Manchester United are planning a 200 million pound summer spree and it looks highly unlikely that they would sell Victor Valdes to Valencia.

.

Manchester United have been linked with moves for Hugo Lloris and Petr Cech as a replacement for David De Gea, but, even then it is highly likely that they will retain Valdes as no 2 in the squad given his experience at the very top level.
