Manchester United Close In On Dani Alves

The contract of Dani Alves at FC Barcelona is set to expire this summer and Manchester United, who are in the market for a world class right back since long, have made a good progress in their chase of the Brazilian and look confident of getting their man in July.

FC Barcelona are into the finals of UEFA Champions League now. Dani Alves, who looked out of touch in the early parts of the season, is looking in a great form now as he has played a key role in the recent wins of the Catalans.

Dani Alves is an undisputed starter, ahead of the likes of Martin Montoya and Douglas, for Luis Enrique at FC Barcelona at the moment. But, regardless of his very important role at Camp Nou, he has not agreed to sign the extension yet.

FC Barcelona coach Luis Enrique is a big admirer of Dani Alves and, considering their transfer ban, he has asked the management of Blaugrana to extend the contract of the Brazilian, at least by a year. But the talks have not started yet and it is increasingly looking likely that Dani Alves will not be a FC Barcelona player on 1st of July.

Manchester United are certain to make a comeback in lucrative Champions League next season and coach Louis van Gaal wants to strengthen his squad during this transfer window to launch a serious attack on the title.

Right side of the defence has remained as the pain area since long for Manchester United and coach Louis van Gaal is desperate to sign Dani Alves. Such is the interest of Manchester United that they are even ready to pay a fee to FC Barcelona for free agent Dani Alves.

Meanwhile, reports coming from Spain and England have also confirmed the progress made by Manchester United in chase of Dani Alves.

Metro has claimed it today that Manchester United are just days away from signing Dani Alves from FC Barcelona.
