Manchester United ai??i?? Agent Confirms Negotiations To Sign Gaitan

.

Agent of Benfica midfielder Nicolas Gaitan has confirmed that the Argentinian international is in talks with Manchester United regarding a move to Old Trafford.

It is almost impossible to fathom a summer transfer window with Nicolas Gaitan being linked with a move away from Benfica. The Argentine international joined the Portuguese club in 2010 and he has remained a permanent fixture in their line-up since then. He has made over 200 appearances for Benfica since his arrival and has helped the club to two back to back Primeira Liga titles.

Barcelona, Inter Milan, Tottenham, Manchester City and Manchester United, have all been linked with the 27-year-old midfielder at some point in the past. Earlier this summer, Liverpool were rumoured to be eyeing a move for the Benfica star, as a possible replacement for Raheem Sterling, who seems destined to join Manchester City. But all of that turned out to be another false alarm as the Merseyside club went on to sign Brazilian international Roberto Firminho from Hoffenheim.

With Liverpool out of the way, Manchester United are now once again been linked with a move for the versatile midfielder. Louis van Gaal is expected to bolster his squad significantly in this transfer window, as they look to challenge for title next season, and the English club has already been linked with a host of players this summer.

Nicolas Gaitana s agent Jose Irribaren has now confirmed that they are in negotiations with Manchester United and all that is pending is an approval from the hierarchy.

a Anything is possible as the negotiations are pending.

a We are waiting for the Manchester United hierarchy to respond and other than that I cannot do anything more.a a Irribaren told Portuguese radio station Antena 1 in an interview.

Gaitana s current contract runs for three more years and he reportedly has a buy-out clause of A?25 million. But if this deal does go through, United are unlikely to pay that big an amount for his signature. Louis van Gaala s interest in Gaitan does seem a bit questionable considering the number of players United have who can play in his position.
