Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko has advised Wolfsburg midfielder Kevin De Bruyne to stay at the club for another season, as he feels, the former Chelsea FC man could benefit with staying with the Bundesliga runners-up for another season.
De Bruyne scored 10 goals in 34 appearances for the German side, and is said to be a prime target for Manchester City and Bayern Munich. The 24-year-old left Chelsea FC to sign for Vfl Wolfsburg after failing to break into the Chelsea FC first team, during his two years with the club. Wolfsburg signed the Belgian attacking midfielder for A?18 million last summer, however, after impressing with the Bundesliga club, he’s now on the wish-list of many clubs.

Dzeko who himself made the switch from then Bundesliga champions, Wolfsburg to Manchester City in 2011, had some words of caution for the 24-year-old,with the midfielder heavily linked with a move to Etihad in recent times. The Bosnia and Herzegovina striker has had a relatively successful career with City, having scored 71 goals from 185 appearances, however, Dzeko has had to play second fiddle to more potent strikers during his time with the Citizens.
In an interview with German magazine Kicker, the 29-year-old said: “Top players like Kevin De Bruyne won’t stay at Wolfsburg forever.
“Everybody dreams of one day playing for a leading international club. It was the same with me after we won the league in 2009, I had the desire to do something different.
“Kevin has an advantage. Through his time at Chelsea he knows the Premier League and knows that it’s completely different.
“A lot of players who excelled in other leagues have had problems here , take Angel Di Maria.
“I’m certain that (Kevin) has what it takes to play for one of the top clubs in Europe but he’s also aware that at these clubs there are 20 top players who always want to be on the pitch.
“Maybe it would also help him if he plays in the Champions League with Wolfsburg this season and takes another step in his development there.”

Manchester City’s Summer upheavel continues
After having splashed a record A?49 million on the capture of Liverpool FC’s Raheem Sterling, Manchester City are set to continue their spending in a bid to reinvigorate their squad, which at times last season flattered to deceive, as the Citizens title defense fell apart, only for Chelsea FC to waltz home with the Premier League title.
City are looking to offload, injury-prone striker Stevan Jovetic, while James Milner has already signed for Liverpool on a free. However, with the Premier League’s rules barring more than 17 foreign players in a squad, only 1 or 2 foreign additions are expected at City, with more emphasis given to home-grown players, as was the case with Raheem.
De Bruyne failed to establish himself at Chelsea during his two years, and was eventually shipped out, once again showing, how difficult it is to make a switch to the Premier League, despite being a star performer elsewhere. A more recent example of a player’s failure to adapt to the Premier League, following a stellar year elsewhere, is of Manchester United’s Angel Di Maria, with the Argentine close to completing a deal to French champions PSG, after failing to adjust to the physical nature of the league.
Keeping in mind the huge difference in the style of play between the English league and other leagues, De Bruyne should probably wait for another year of Champions League exposure, to make the English switch, as another failure in the English Premier League could be detrimental for the future of the Blegian striker.
