Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has hinted that the Old Trafford club need to sign a player in the mould of FC Barcelona winger Pedro.

Pedro’s future at FC Barcelona has been the subject of intense speculation despite the player signing a new deal in the summer.

The arrival of new signing Arda Turan to add to the already existing trio of Neymar, Messi, Suarez means Pedroa s chances might be limited at the club.

The player himself was quoted saying earlier that he was unsure about his future and his buyout clause recently dropped from a 150 million to a 30m

Manchester United and Chelsea FC have been heavily linked with a move for the player.

Van Gaal hints Manchester United need Pedro

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has hinted that the club need a player with the speed of the Spanish international.

He told The Sun: “Barcelona have the speed of Neymar and [Lionel] Messi — and they have Pedro behind them. We have to compete with that.

“We can win the title if we can buy players with speed and creativity. We have to improve our selection in that way.

“Bayern Munich have [Franck] Ribery and [Arjen] Robben. After that they can change with [Thomas] Muller and they also had [Xherdan] Shaqiri at times.

“They are our competitors. Chelsea have [Eden] Hazard, Willian, Oscar — that is speed and creativity.”

Where could Pedroa s future lie?

FC Barcelona manager Luis Enrique had stressed earlier this month that he wants the 27-year-old to stay. However, the manager has now admitted that Pedro could leave should his release clause be met.

a Pedro? If he wants to go, a club will have to meet his release clause,a Luis Enrique was quoted saying by Sport.

Both, Manchester United and Chelsea FC would be attractive options for the Pedro. Recent reports have claimed that Manchester United are favorites for the Spanish winger. However, earlier reports in the Catalan media had stated Chelsea FC are leading the race for the winger. The Barcelona man allegedly had conversations with Chelsea FC manager Jos Mourinho, which the player later denied.

One would think that Pedro will use the coming six months till Turan is ineligible to play for FC Barcelona to see where he stands. He could decide his next move in January if not in the summer having stated that he could still stay at the club.

Manchester United could use the money from the Di Maria transfer to finance the deal for Pedro as recent reports claim. Louis van Gaal has certainly made it clear that the club are looking to sign a player in his mould.
