Liverpool FC To Move For Real Madrid’s Denis Cheryshev

Liverpool FC are preparing an offer in the region a 15-20 million to sign Real Madrid’s 24-year-old Russian Winger who has turned heads with his performances on loan at Villarreal according to reports in the Spanish Media

Denis Cheryshev will return to Real Madrid on June 30 after completing a season-long loan spell with Villarreal. The winger has shone in his loan spell and is being sought as a possible replacement for Raheem Sterling. In the 2012-13 season he scored 11 in the Segunda Division with Real Madrid Castilla and he finished this campaign with 6 goals and 11 assists in 25 starts in all competition for Villareal. In the 2013-14 season he suffered two injuries that limited him to only five appearances for Sevilla.

Real Madrid could sell the player to balance their books given that he is not touted to be in the first team plans anytime soon and has a contract until 2017 and Liverpool have been constantly linked to the player. As per the reports, it also remains to be seen if Liverpool FC agree to Real Madrid’s reluctance to sell unless a buy-back clause is inserted, as with the recent transfers of homegrown players such as Carvajal, Morata and Joselu.

Cheryshev vs Sterling: A comparison

Cheryshev is a a versatile player who likes to cut inside from the left flank. His style of play is suited to the kind that Liverpool FC manager Brendan Rodgers looks for – someone who can play across the midfield. In comparison to Sterling, Cheryshev will be a cheaper alternative and going by his 2014-15 La Liga performances where he has out assisted Raheem Sterling and matched his goals per 90 minutes, the player does offers end product – something that was lacking in Liverpool. There are alternatives in the market with out-of-contract Ukranian winger Konoplyanka constantly linked. But, Liverpool FC have to decide if they want to go for a player who has performed in a top league as compared to someone from the Ukrainian league.
