Liverpool FC Defender Set For Premier League Switch

Highly talented Coates would probably be sold in the summer

. Signed after being declared the Copa America Young Player of the Tournament, Liverpool FC defender Sebastian Coates is set to sign for Sunderland in a 4 million pound deal according to reports in the Liverpool Echo.

It all looked great for Sebastian Coates when Liverpool FC secured the then recently declared Copa America Young Player of the Tournament for 5 million pound from his native Uruguay.

The player helped Uruguay clinch the Copa America in 2011 and joined his fellow countryman Luis Suarez at Anfield.

However, the next four seasons have been frustrating for both, club and the player as injuries and indifferent form has stalled his progress with the player making only 24 appearance for Liverpool FC.

Still only 24 years of age, there is no doubt in the eyes of people who saw the then 20 year old play for Uruguay in Copa America 2011 of what he could have been and might still go onto reach those heights if injuries can let him play games at Sunderland where he made only 13 appearance during the season.

Sebastian Coatesa performances during the final six games were a key factor behind Sunderland beating the drop and this led to the Black Cats pushing ahead with a move to keep the 24-year-old at the Stadium of Light.

But with only a year left on his contract, Liverpool FC are looking to offload the player who could have been, with more luck, a much better player for the Reds.

Coates is now hoping to revive his career under Sunderland boss Dick Advocaat, who has been promised major funds by billionaire Sunderland owner Ellis Short to avoid a repeat relegation battle in the last two seasons.

Injury permitting, fans of Liverpool FC will not be surprised if the Uruguayan goes onto forge a very good career away from Anfield, having seen his quality in bits and pieces at the club. Sunderland have got themselves a very good player.
