Liverpool Confident Of Beating Manchester United, But Top 4 Won’t Be Decided From The Game: Adam Lallana

Liverpool are confident of beating Manchester United on Sunday, claims midfielder Adam Lallana.

The Reds are sitting in fifth place, two points behind their arch-rivals Manchester United and a victory on Sunday at Anfield could help them leapfrog their opponents into fourth place. Liverpool have been unbeaten in the Premier League since their 3-0 loss to United at Old Trafford in December.

Lallana said, a Psychologically for us it is massive. If we win we go above United and we get one foot into the top four.

a We are just focused on being consistent, keeping clean sheets and winning football matches.

a We will be focusing on ourselves on Sunday, thata s what we have been doing, and confidence is high. We are very confident we can get the victory.a

However, the midfielder did insinuate that winning the game will not guarantee them a top 4 place since there are going to be plenty of twists and turns before the end of the season.

He said, a We were struggling at the beginning of the season, but in the last few months we have definitely turned a corner. There are still another eight games after and there is going to be twists and turns constantly Ia m sure.

a Tottenham and Southampton are still in and around the fight as well so they are going to be wanting to pick up points to make it three teams out of six trying to get in the top four.

a It is exciting for the neutral and Ia m sure it will go down to the wire.a

Meanwhile goalkeeper Simon Mignolet has stressed the important of staying focused for the game as he knows, and rightly so, there is going to be a big build-up to it.

He said, “We know there will be a huge build up, but as professional football players we can’t get carried away. We have to focus on our jobs, because as a game it is three points to win or to lose.

“If we are going to make more of it than it is we might get flustered or carried away with things, so we have to address it in a professional manner and make sure we focus on our job, rather than what the opponent does or how big a game it is.”
