Klopp Says There’s Nothing Stopping Him Buying Players From Borussia Dortmund

Liverpool could be without their first choice center-half pairing of Sakho & Skrtel

Ever since German manager Jurgen Klopp took over the manager’s role at Liverpool FC there have been a number of reports about the possibility of buying players he had worked with during his successful stint at Borussia Dortmund.

A number of players have been linked with a move to Anfield after Klopp’s arrival, most reportedly midfielders Ilkay Gundogan and Nuri Sahin, who currently play for Borussia Dortmund. But there was also speculation as to whether Klopp had some sort of agreement to not raid his former club. The manager has addressed these doubts and said there is no such thing.

a I have a good relationship still with Borussia Dortmund and with all the players,a Klopp said, according to thisisanfield.com.

a There is nothing between us and if there was a possibility that we could get one of those players and we needed him, then we could try it. But there is no agreement, of course not. And there is no agreement that we cana t sell players to Borussia Dortmund!a

Klopp’s first transfer window

Klopp will have his first chance to mould the Liverpool squad according to his vision during the January transfer window and, though there have been a number of players associated with a move to Anfield, the manager has insisted that he will not spend just for the sake of spending.

a I didna t ask (the owners), Ia m sure we could (do something),a Klopp said . . a The only answer I can give is we wona t do anything only because ita s possible.

a We only want to do something if we feel it is necessary or there is an opportunity where we cannot say no, or our situation changes in a way where we have to take players in.a
