Jurgen Klopp insists he has no intention of signing Dortmund players for Liverpool

Jurgen Klopp’s arrival to Liverpool has lead to a host of transfer rumors indicating the German will try to get Borussia Dortmund stars to the Premier League.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Ilkay Gundogan, Marco Reus and former Dortmund striker Robert Lewandowski are few of the players mentioned in transfer reports.

While such speculation is not unheard of, it can cause worry to the club’s authorities as managers do try to get players from former clubs to work with.

Jurgen Klopp has gone on record to assure that he will not be targeting his former players.

“I have no intention whatsoever to lure Dortmund’s stars to Liverpool,” he said.

“It is only October and I don’t even know how many games there are left until the winter. But we clearly have plenty of games left and we will be taking a look at our own players first.”

Klopp has barely gotten started with proceedings at his new clubs and various papers have already lined up players he “wishes” to get at Anfield. The German will take some time to assess the strengths and weaknesses of the squad and the players and positions he needs to address in the coming winter transfer window. It was fair play on the part of the manager to go on record to clarify matters.

Klopp managed his first training at the club’s training ground, Melwood, earlier today. His first game in charge of the Reds is a tough away one against Tottenham Hotspur.
